ABOUT SINUSITIS

Sinusitis is one of the most common conditions in medicine affecting millions of people of all ages worldwide. It causes significant discomfort and distress and impacts the quality of life for sufferers. Sinusitis is the inflammation of the nasal passages and sinus cavities. The symptoms occur in varying degrees of severity resulting in a number or combination of symptoms including nasal obstruction, headaches, facial pain, toothache, nosebleeds and loss of smell.

The root of the problem is broad and can range from infection, allergies, diabetes and some autoimmune conditions. Resistance to antibiotics and increasing global pollution affecting our air quality are contributing to the rise in sufferers. It is widely accepted that one of the most simple and effective ways to treat this condition is with daily washing of the sinuses with saline, a simple mixture of salt and water.

As saline is a natural remedy there are no unpleasant side effects and the benefits are instantly noticeable. The pure and natural roots of this practice go back millennia to ancient Ayurvedic treatments and an understanding of its curative properties. Nasal cleansing has been part of Hatha Yoga methods for centuries and is seen as natural body hygiene, with saline being a healthier alternative to medications such as nasal drops and sprays. In Scandinavia, nasal cleansing with saline is known as an old household remedy against colds and infections.

Old fishermen talk of having avoided colds throughout their lives by sniffing salt water, and in other countries around the world there are descriptions of how people use sea water for its curative and disinfecting abilities. The COVID pandemic has highlighted the importance the role of saline irrigation can play in viral prevention as both a long term and natural method of prevention, and now the importance of maintaining good sinus health through regular saline flushing has never been more relevant.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Rhineeze has been developed by Trevor Farrington, one of the UK’s leading Ear, Nose and Throat surgeons who has worked in the National Health Service for over 40 years. He is Consultant Emeritus Department of Head & Neck Surgery at Manchester Royal Infirmary & Past President of the section of Laryngology & Rhinology at the Royal Society of Medicine.

During his long career he would impress on patients the value of daily saline washing either to prevent rhinosinusitis that causes significant misery, or to avoid infection or blockage following surgery. On retirement from clinical practice, he embarked on developing a device that was unique and addressed the practical flaws seen in other products on the market. His aim was to create a product that was comfortable, portable and easy to use. Following extensive research and development, and many iterations, Rhineeze was born. From a clinician’s perspective it addressed the problems seen in products on the market and delivered all the requirements for providing the most effective treatment for sinus related conditions.

How Rhineeze works & why it's so effective

Rhineeze is the only product that delivers the right amount of saline, at the right pressure in a compact, safe, comfortable and easy to use unit.

There are other devices available on the market, but they have flaws – uncomfortable to use; too expensive; prone to failure, leakage or lack sufficient pressure; too noisy and the majority are not portable.

The most common issue is having the correct pressure to reach the back of the nasal cavity and clean the mucosa without it being too uncomfortable. Rhineeze has been developed with this in mind and the unique pump action mechanism draws the correct amount of saline into the chamber and releases it at the right pressure to reach the back of the nasal cavity and clean the mucosa.

Rhineeze does not require any batteries and its portability allows it to be used daily whether at home, work or travelling - daily use is essential for those with a chronic condition. The design is compact and ergonomic, and its unique nasal tip is comfortable, prevents leakage and is interchangeable for maintenance of hygiene.

ENT Specialist Testimonial

“I have recently been recommending the Rhineeze nasal irrigator to my patients with nasal allergy, sinusitis and after nasal and sinus surgery. Their feedback had been uniformly positive. The nasal spray jet is powerful and delivers saline to all parts of the nasal cavities.

It is easy to use and to clean after use. It is made of quality materials and should last forever.

It has been designed by an eminent ENT surgeon who clearly knows what is needed in a nasal irrigation device. I have no hesitation in recommending this device to all ENT surgeons and patients everywhere.”
